29 loooong weeks later

So here on some recent pics. Baby is 29 weeks and 2 days today and he weighs almost 3 pounds! Glad I can finally blame at least a few pounds on him ;).

Please excuse the disaster of a mess that we are currently calling our bedroom. Don't notice the 2 lampshades stacked on top of each other or the blanket that I had the nerve to throw over part of the mess to pretend it's not there... sigh. Soon.

Also, here is Sawyer with his cone of shame. We have had quite a few laughs at his expense the past few days. He is slowly learning to compensate for his extra need of space to clear things like tables, walls, etc. My favorite is when he walks he really swings his cone from side to side and looks like Simba from The Lion King... I will admit, it ususally makes me start humming Hakuna Matata.

party in the usa

prepare to die from nose-squinching, toddler-smiling, cuteness overload...
(patrick, you were warned)
they're playing our song... nodding my head like yeah... movin' my hips like yeah

hey, hey, hey!

peek-a-blue

Here is a sneak peek at the nursery. The room just had to get painted and so it got a nice coat of Valspar Sage Bud. Love it.... mostly blue with a little green in it.

The dresser and the crib were bought together because I just loved the lines and color. Thank you Kim and mom for helping put that darn dresser together... totally worth it though.
(yes, the first letter is covered up)

This next piece came into existence in our house in an impulsive sort of way...
(on the phone with Amanda later that day)
L: So I finally went to Goodwill and dropped off all that stuff in the back of my car.
A: Great. Way to be productive.
L: Then I had to go to the bathroom.
A: Of course.
L: So I went inside Goodwill.
A: Oh no.
L: Yeah....
I painted it Aqua Smoke because it was just unfinished wood before. It's missing one bucket so I need to go to Ikea and get one.

Obviously the books will not just be sitting on the floor and the hamper will be in his closet but you get the picture. Again, this is still a work in progress.
Yes, this Craigslist chair will get slip-covered before the baby gets here... I'm almost certain.
I made the mobile in the corner today. It was so easy and fun. More on that later.

Lovin' how it's turning out and can't wait to see it all come together and am more excited of course to put a baby in it :)

getting organized

Baby Hokanson will be here in about 75ish days! AHH! While I am the most excited I've ever been to meet someone, there is so much planning to do before he gets here. Insurance, maternity leave, long term sub, nursery, baby showers, daycare browsing, and the list goes on and on. This has left me truly finding the need for my planner again and I have to say, I like it.

Chris and I had a free day last week where we sat down and planned all sorts of stuff out... is that a perfect date or what? :) Of course with Chris, there had to be a little something more to just going to go get coffee and sitting down with the handwritten calendar for me and his fancy dancy iPhone.

We completed the Houston-Starbucks-Trifecta on Gowalla. This little app is a Texas native that makes little road trips or little adventures for you to complete. The one we completed is at the corner of West Gray and Shepard where there are in fact, 3 Starbucks on one corner! We went to all on them... in about an hour.
I don't know what made me the happiest... getting to go on a date with C, my Venti Iced Passion Tea, or finally getting some flagged reminders out of my head and onto paper? Jk, I know.

Happy Birthday Papa John!

Love you! Enjoy all your new flashlights ;)

"you should talk to it..."

"apparently they can hear you even though it's all like 10,000 leagues under the sea in there"

Dear Baby,

I know you know our voices well by now. Mostly from me you get pleas asking you to leave me alone and stop kicking my personal places. You also hear me read you books like
 and .
Your dad, however, is a different story. He is reading you The Fiddler's Gun. Lol. He is going to be great though.

I promise.
Love,
Momma

happy belated 4th

For the first time since Chris and I have been together, we went to the country (Warrenton) for the 4th of July. It was wonderful and blissfully lazy. Fun times with funny people, blowing things up, just chattin', and a little karaoke...
sweetness.

baking with baby pics

the dog bowl, pennant, and tractor are the ones i most recently made.

(bonus points: look for my big belly bump making an appearance in some of the photos)

hello hiccups

they are officially here and being felt by yours truly.
apparently hiccups in the womb are not only completely normal but a good indicator that the baby is healthy so i will try to rejoice in them. :)

this is sawyer wondering what they heck those are.

in other related news... glucose test today.... that stuff is really not that bad tasting. it tastes like those cheapy drinks from fiesta that come in the little plastic barrels with foil on top. anyone know what i'm talking about... anyone? bueller?

**update picture**

my sweet momma wheels!

Fortunately (?) I got into a minor car accident which really put a little pep in our car searching step. Result...
Welcome to the family Rav4 which I am already madly in love with!
Also, thank you Carmax! You have earned my business for life. All car buying should be this easy and bully free.

bakin' with baby

Random thoughts while baking...

My apron strings don't quite tie the way they used to.

Hopefully no one will notice the big belly marks my stomach makes in the cake as it scrapes off the icing and wears it as a hood ornament.

1 cake down, 2 to go.
(will post pics later)

round and proud

We're rounding out 25 weeks here!
growing baby --- check
crib --- check
dresser --- check
registry --- check
uncomfy momma --- check
signed up for birthing class --- ugh and check

(I have to make my bed every time I want to take a pic. lol)

So I went to the doctors this week and had a little chuckle when the nurse read the scale and said, "Ummm, I'm gonna weigh you on the scale in the other room too, just to make sure this is right." Guess what? It was right the first time. :) She said that is fine since I gained hardly any in the first 5 months but I got a little giggle out of it anyway. And giggles and chuckles can be dangerous for pregnant women... if you know what I mean ;)

Also in this week, I got the official mommy-bob haircut. I'm almost in the club.
