True Love

True Love from my favorite guy is:

Putting lotion on my fat feet while we watch tv WITHOUT me asking.

Surprising me with sour belts from Dylan's Candy when he comes home from work.

Biting his tongue when I leave trash in my car.

Admiring my cakes.

Ordering an extra tub of special garlic sauce from Papa Johns WITHOUT me even asking.

Tolerating my crafting ADD.

Not saying anything when I incorrectly use terms like "addicting"

Reading the blog and chatting with me about it.

Doing the dishes. Amen.

Not being selfish with our time together.

A sweet text message during the day.

Love you Chris.
Happy Birthday!

Love,
Leslie

sharing

Me: "We don't share our lunch. You need to eat your own food so we can all be full until dinner."
Kid: "You're already full Mrs. Hokanson. Who shared their lunch with you?"
Me: "No, there's a baby in here."
Kid: "Why did you eat a baby?"
Me: ::Sigh:: "Just finish your cheeseburger."

ahhh... so THIS is why people wear stretch pants

CanNOT even begin to describe how uncomfortable I am all the time.
Sitting... Laying... Standing...
Stretching... Scratching... Itching... Pulling!
 Uncomfortable!
The cure: stretch pants!
I am was not a fan!
I definitely am now!

4 more days of school left before I'm outta there. I will miss the kids and especially my wonderful co-workers but I cannot wait to be home with Baby. Not looking forward to the whole delivery thing but being home with him.... oh soooooo excited about that!

38 Weeks:

This is how I feel about 98.4% of the time... yeah, that's an exact, made-up, percentage in case you were wondering :)

Current pregnancy stats:
-I've been wearing the same pair of maternity jeans for about 4 weeks now... I wash them, no worries.
-Baby H is in position.
-Nesting instinct is in full throttle... doesn't everyone have the desire to scrub that under-the-drain part of your sink?
-Last Friday I literally lost my ankles... I'm shocked I don't have stretch marks from it... gross.
-One day I decided to count how many bathroom visits... 23 my friends... 23.
-Still get asked everyday by the kids "You STILL got that baby in there Mrs. Hokanson?!"
-No meltdowns this week! woo hoo!
-2 weeks (OR LESS) till I get to meet my little goober :)

Teens and Tacos

OMG... we've hit the teens! Only 19 days left.... and that is only IF this kid/momma can hold out that long!
I can't wait to snuggle that little goober and gently remind him in long story form of all the movin' and groovin' he did for 9 months!
Our little guy is quickly getting ready to make his appearance and meet his 2 big families and be absolutely snuggled like crazy.

Speaking of one of those big, crazy families, we had a nice, fancy, sit-down, family dinner last night and officially completed 3 nights of Mexican food in a row, from 3 different restaurants.
Last night's was my favorite...
El Ultimo Taco.... I mean, if you're going to call yourself the ultimate something, it better dang right be true! And it totally is!

Is it a taco truck? Yes
Is it off of shady mcCreepy Longpoint? Yes
Does it maybe share a parking lot with a car wash? Yes
Does it have delicious horchata or "check-up" as Adelaide calls it? Yes
Is a parking-lot-taco-truck-eatery just the absolute PERFECT place for a large family to gather and dine along the ordering bar?  YES!

Belly Brain

I've actually been told that my asking something repeatedly or repeating something a thousand times is actually not a symptom of pregnancy.... it's just something I do. So, call it pregnancy brain, call it belly brain, or just simply call it Leslie brain... either way, here's a little taste of it.

When I bought milk at the grocery store: The expiration date is October 4th... will he be here before this milk expires? Will this be the last gallon on milk I buy before baby?

Open House Night at school: Do we have to go to the gym at 6:30? (repeatedly insert in conversation about every 2 minutes to get the full effect)

At the gas station: Will this be the tank of gas that gets us to the hospital and then that we take our son home on?

Hope your week is a good one! 2 more weeks of work for me! CanNOT wait to be home and with this sweet baby boy :)

Here's a sneak peek at some of the baby belly pics we took with Heather Hess this week. Enjoy! More to come and then even more to come from our sweet family friend Shailey!
Is this shot even optional... it's like a pregnancy must.

Funny smile but still love it.

Don't even try to read the name... she blurred it out on purpose.
;)
Love y'all!

Dear Big Baby,

You're almost here! When did the little tracker at the top of the blog move you to the last box?! You are full term this week and from all the kicking and rolling, I think you are quite ready to be here.

Two more weeks of work for me but no one there thinks you're going to make it that long. They are all taking bets (betting each other Cherry Cokes) on when you'll come.

Nesting has set in and I get a little panicky sometimes that I won't finish in time. If I do, I do and if I don't, I don't.

We have one more shower this weekend and I cannot wait to see my families and friends but more importantly can't wait for you to meet them! They all already love you so much.

We went to the doctor's yesterday and you are in position and ready to come! You are approximately 6 pounds now and all your organs are just practicing. Unfortunately, after that umm.. less than comfortable appointment yesterday you might just have to be an only child 'cause HOLY GUACAMOLE. 'Nuff said.

I feel a little silly driving around with your big ol' car seat in the car while you're still riding captain's chair with me but something tells me you're gonna make a bit of a surprise appearance so I'm happy to be ready for it.

In the nicest way possible, I can't wait to have you out of me. I want to meet you! (And to be able to sleep on my stomach again!)

Love you forever,
Momma

One month to go!

Since school has started back and life has been a little bananas, there have been no updated pregnancy pics.  So here is 35 1/2 weeks for ya!

Here is some pregnancy facts this week from a website I love that keeps the pregnancy week to week details real and humorous!

At this point in your pregnancy all the blood has gone to your belly ... literally. Nearly 1/6 of your body's total blood volume is chugging around in the vessels in your uterus. So that's why you feel so lightheaded all the time!

Starting this week you'll visit your OB or midwife weekly. Every time you go you'll probably beg her to tell you when she thinks your babe is coming. Unfortunately, her guess is about as good as yours. Even if you're dilated, there's no telling exactly when baby will make his appearance (unless you have a scheduled C-section, of course.)

This week the final touches are being added to your mini-masterpiece and most of his development is going to packing on the pounds. While baby's movements may be becoming less jerky, he may do his final somersault in the womb soon—to put himself into the head-down position for birth.

Your little Karate Kid can't quite pack the punch he used to due to the limited space inside the womb these days. You're likely to feel more wiggles, stretches and rolls than kicks and jabs. The extra layer of fat your baby is adding will create those cute dimples on your baby's elbows and knees. His liver has begun processing his waste products, so you know which organ to thank when he has his first blowout up the back of his onesie.

Baby's nails are growing so long they may curl over the tips of his tiny fingers and toes before he sees a pair of clippers. He'll be in serious need of a mani-pedi once he's born (as will you).

Your baby is now about 5½ pounds and over 18 inches long—about the size of one of those price-club sheet cakes.

dated dresser do-over

(why is alliteration so fun?)

Anywhoo, in the great dresser swap that occurs in my family every few years, I recently inherited these beauts. ;)
So yeah...
1. Paint purchased (Behr's Hidden Peak)
2. Drawers out
3. Hardware removed and new ones ready
Check, Check, Check

A few hours later and some weak attempts at being patient while the paint dried and....
VIOLA!

FALL ENTRY TABLE! Love it! a few minor kinks need to be worked out like the fact that the hardware pull holes are not standard so I have to return and find some new ones... we'll see how that goes. Overall though I'm really happy with it and can't wait to decorate it for the coming seasons!

9.08.2010

dear dad,

I love you. I know something is coming and so I'm feeling rather clingy lately.
I love you the most and I don't want to share you with anyone.
I am the baby in this family.
I wait all day for you to come home and my entire life revolves around you. No pressure.
Love,
Sawyer

baby showa

I had a fabulous baby shower with some fabulous ladies at The Mad Potter last weekend!
It was really neat because we got to each decorate some tiles and then they are going to be made into a mirror.

Love you girls and can't thank you enough!
There are more painting pics but my mom might be a little crazy about trying to figure out the name so I couldn't include any pic that contained a tile with a letter on it. When I get the mirror and hang it up I will show the "give-away" pics ;)

lil' buddy outfits

I have been working a bit on cute little onsies for my very-soon-to-come lil' buddy.
Can't wait to see my squirmy little baby in these!

The moose one is a shout out to his Grandama Lynnie, the elephant to his Gramma Marly who has decided that elephants are his thing, and the oversized tie is just for fun!

a lil' jingle

if you're pregnant and you know it, go to bed
if you're pregnant and you know it, go to bed
if you're pregnant and you know it, then your face (ankles, belly & patience) will surely show it
if you're pregnant and you know it, go to bed
